The Land

The Land

The hostel grounds are comprised of an area of 2 hectares. We have our own mineral water source and the grounds are full of trees which produce fruit seasonally (some of these include avocado, mango, jackfruit, guama, cacao, zapote, and oranges), as well as wood trees such as oak, cedar and kingwood and caney which are endemic to the region of South America. We use the land to plant as much as possible for the hostel shop, and everything is done sustainably.

Our hostel functions on systems modelled on permaculture. Water from the sinks and showers is filtered and reused to water the garden, and our compost toilets in the dorms produce fresh organic matter to nourish our crops and trees with. The entire hostel is powered by solar energy, making us extremely environmentally friendly. Our mission statement around the hostel is largely focused on demonstrating to our guests, an emission-free business and way of life. There are other points to explore on the land, and pathways to walk around. We have a treehouse with a swing, which gives a different point of view on the land and allows guests to be hidden high in the trees amongst the birds.

We will also have a Viajeros del Tiempo – Ginger Beer Brewery on site within the next year as well as art installations for guests to discover and ponder while exploring.
